Egemen (Erdem Akakce) is a young man in his thirties working as an Office boy in an advertising agency who has to live together with his mother Gülseren (Metal Çetinkaya) despite his advancing age. The life passing with his mothers mental blackouts is like a little hell that is concealed somewhere inside the house and maybe made up just for them.

As for Gülseren, Egemen is the only sole reason for her existence in life. The rest is an anxious spirit and a never-ending unrest in the house where she lived solitarily. Egemen is the only one she wants to live with. Even a single idea about her son’s leaving is enough for her to have a nervous break down.

And the advertising agency is the only place where he lives a normal life feeling good and away from the hell in his house where he lived almost all his life. Building a relationship by means of his work takes him away from his mothers depressing world. On the other hand his interest against his boss Umay (Derya Alabora) is a big dilemma for this young man. His mother’s existence is a giant obstacle for this interest. Egemen helplessly gets stuck between these two women with.

KARANLIKTAKİLER is a story of a mother who lived according to the moral and ethical values of middle class and a young man who has to live with his mother in her little hell. It is a bit funny, sometimes tense and fearsome story of whom we consciously or unconsciously criticize.
